Catching Up!!

Since I recently started posting again I thought I would share some of the things that my class made last school year.
The first set of pictures is from a mural that my classroom and two other kindergarten rooms made for Fine Arts Night. Fine Arts Night is an even when families can come to school and see all of the creative things that our students do.
Our mural is based on the book “Its Spring” by Samantha Berger. It’s a fun, easy leveled reader that my kids love! Each class made a set of animals and then the students wrote out the story on sentence strips.  We put the story up on the mural so that you could walk, and read the story. It like having a giant picture book, the students and parents LOVED it!!

For Valentine’s Day we made “Hogs and Kisses” and also Bees (Bee Mine!).

Around Christmas time we made Christmas Light Names, Santa’s Reindeer (each student named theirs) and Elves.

For our Fall Festival my class decided to decorate our pumpkin like a spider. It came out so cute!! I just wish I would have used a Styrofoam pumpkin so that it would have lasted forever!!

I LOVE to bake; these are the cupcakes that I made for my coworkers for the first day of school. What should I make this year??
That was just SOME of the fun stuff we did last year!

Free Miss Bindergarten Unit and almost free Tee (YAY)

I found another great blog!! Kinder Kraziness! Love the name! :) Laura is giving away (yay) a Miss Bindergarten Unit. I love to read these books to my kinders because of the rhyming words, beautiful illustrations and the message that each book has! So check out this awesome blog and this great giveaway!! Click on the flower for the freebie!!

I love freebies; another blog that I am obsessed with is Hip2Save. There are always great freebies and discounts. This morning I was able to create a tee shirt and have it shipped to my house for only $4.41!! Wow! You can’t find that in a store! I customized my tee to say “Kindergarten Teachers Rock” and one of my favorite quotes “I hear and I forget.  I see and I remember.  I do and I understand”- Author unknown. I can’t wait for my tee shirt!!

Here is the Bulletin Board that we made for the end of the year. The kids painted paper plates in their skin tones then they added the graduation caps and facial features, they had a lot of fun putting these together.

We had a graduation party in our classroom. A good friend came to my classroom and made graduation caps for all of the kiddos, they loved the caps so much they wanted to wear them weeks before the party! We practiced some graduation songs and poems and then invited families to come and celebrate with us. I was so happy to see so many parents and grandparents come to our graduation party.
After the kids did the songs and poems, I gave them each a “diploma”, a book, and a poem and picture thing that I made. I took a picture of them on the first day of school and the last day of school and then put those pictures side by side with a sweet little poem to show them how much they have grown in just one short year!

Sweet Summer Time

I started this blog with the best of intentions, but life got very buys and I was unable to post for quite some time. Well now that school is out and I have finished my masters program I have lots of time on my hands.
This school year flew by! I had a great group of kinders! They made me smile and laugh so many times a day. I am going to miss them all so much!
I am looking forward to next year. I met my new kiddos during Kindergarten orientation; they were so small and so little, I always have to remind myself of how little they are when they come in to my classroom.
This summer is going to be a VERY busy one! We are building a garage and a deck and we have to replace our roof due to the storm that we had a month or so ago. I am also teaching summer school and taking a few professional development opportunities.
