Wow its October.....

So it has been a LONG time since my last post!! School has been so busy! I thought that this year would be easier, and I would have more time since I didn’t have Grad school work. Boy was I wrong! Planning a wedding is hard work! I have found my dress and the reception hall is booked, but there is still sooooooooo much to do. Here are some more pictures of my classroom. Many things are inspired by pinterest. I just can’t get enough of that site! Well enjoy and please leave me comments!

New Pictures/Update

I am finally getting into the groove of a schedule, the first few weeks were rough! I love my new kiddos they continue to surprise me everyday. Here are some pictures of my classroom, I am by no means a photographer so the pictures are not the best.

Hello...sorry its been soooooo long!!

WOW!! Has it really been a month since I last posted? It has been one crazy/busy August! I was finally able to move into my new classroom around August 9th and school started on the 16th. I was very worried that I wouldn’t be able to finish (several other teachers who stopped by my room were also worried!) and the classroom still isn’t complete. There are still lots of little things that I need to do!! Here are some BEFORE pictures, notice how much work I have ahead of me!!

My new room is HUGE!! I love it!! The AFTER pictures will be posted later today, I am on my way back to school to finish up some of those “little things”!!

Google for Educators

Did you know that there is a Google for Educators? Well I did not, and while aimlessly cruising the internet I came across Google for Educators. Its great! There are tools for your classroom, classroom activities, classroom posters and even a teacher community! I love Google and this just made me love them even more!

On another note, I spent three hours in my classroom today and I feel overwhelmed and worried that everything will not be ready! Can the classroom fairy come and set up my room .....please...pretty please!!

14 Days Until School Starts

There are about 14 days left until school starts and I don’t even know where to start in my new room. As I wrote before I have so much stuff that I don’t know where it all came from. I went to Target yesterday and I found a few goodies to help me organize my stuff. I found bins that I will use to hold weekly materials and lesson plans and I found magnets and other stuff that I didn’t really need, I just wanted it.
I have one week of summer school left then one week to hopefully set up my classroom. I am so excited I have quite a few of my soon to be students in my summer school class and its great getting to know them a little better before school starts. Now if only I could get them to stop calling me Mrs. Teacher! They are so funny!
Here is a great sight word activity I found while Blog Stalking. Rainbow Sight Words, this would be a great center activity.

This great idea came from Kindergarten Lesson Plans.

I guess I would accomplish a lot more if I logged off the computer. But that isn’t going to happen because Daniel is at work and it’s WAY too hot and humid to do any yard work, so I will stay plugged in and Blog Stalk a little longer!

New Classroom! New Blogs!

This will be my third year teaching and it will be my third classroom move. I am excited about the move this year! I am moving into a larger kindergarten room and I will be right across the hall from the library!! I also get to teach with a wonderful teacher who always has great ideas!
As I am going through all of my things I am wondering WHERE did all this stuff come from?? I have soooo much stuff; I am embarrassed to even post the pictures for fear of having the Hoarders camera crew show up at my classroom door. My biggest weakness is children’s books. I just can’t get enough of them. I am constantly buying books and I don’t even know what I have. For example today I was looking through my books and came across 3 copies of the same book. I gave two away to my summer school kiddos because I don’t need 3!! I am working on improving my organizational skills before/as I move into the new room.

Here is another super cute blog that I stumbled across(the owls are soooooo sweet) A Teeny Tiny Teacher. So many cute ideas and a few freebies. I LOVE freebies.

Learning with Mrs. Parker is another blog that I found the “A Yard of Me” is cute and would be something nice to hang in your classroom on Parent Night and Open House.  It’s an easy way for parents to get to know you a little better.

Happy Blogging!!

Kindergarten is a HOOT!!

I am really BAD at keeping up on the blog!! I will do better when the school year starts!
Summer School started yesterday and my life will now have a schedule. I love the summer but my days get crazy without any structure.
I have decided on a theme for the school year… “Kindergarten is a HOOT”. I am so excited; I order a few things from Carson Dellosa and Oriental Trading. I am going to make a few things and will post pictures later. I found this super cute fabric at Jo Ann Fabrics. I am going to make these chairs/stools with the fabric. What The Teacher Wants is one of my VERY favorite blogs and the instructions for the chairs/stools is there. (Let her know who sent you.)

I even found some owl cookies that I want to make for my kiddos. I am going to wait until I meet my new kiddos and find out about food allergies.

Catching Up!!

Since I recently started posting again I thought I would share some of the things that my class made last school year.
The first set of pictures is from a mural that my classroom and two other kindergarten rooms made for Fine Arts Night. Fine Arts Night is an even when families can come to school and see all of the creative things that our students do.
Our mural is based on the book “Its Spring” by Samantha Berger. It’s a fun, easy leveled reader that my kids love! Each class made a set of animals and then the students wrote out the story on sentence strips.  We put the story up on the mural so that you could walk, and read the story. It like having a giant picture book, the students and parents LOVED it!!

For Valentine’s Day we made “Hogs and Kisses” and also Bees (Bee Mine!).

Around Christmas time we made Christmas Light Names, Santa’s Reindeer (each student named theirs) and Elves.

For our Fall Festival my class decided to decorate our pumpkin like a spider. It came out so cute!! I just wish I would have used a Styrofoam pumpkin so that it would have lasted forever!!

I LOVE to bake; these are the cupcakes that I made for my coworkers for the first day of school. What should I make this year??
That was just SOME of the fun stuff we did last year!

This morning I was able to create a tee shirt and have it shipped to my house for only $4.41!! Wow! You can’t find that in a store! I customized my tee to say “Kindergarten Teachers Rock” and one of my favorite quotes “I hear and I forget.  I see and I remember.  I do and I understand”- Author unknown. I can’t wait for my tee shirt!!
